Research
Part of my PhD research consists of the validation of the Dark Triad of Personality scale (SD3) in a non-clinical Spanish sample. During my stay in the SAMBA lab, I will learn techniques for structural equation modeling (SEM) for psychometric analysis. Another topic of my project is to investigate bidirectional communication between astrocyte-neurons and to map the pattern of interaction to psychopathy-related behaviour. Astrocyte activity regulates specific responses, such as those to threats, and plays a role in determining the synaptic and behavioral outputs of the amygdala.
Biography
I studied Psychology at La Laguna University in Spain and obtained a master in Criminology at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Mexico. I am doing my PhD at the Salamanca University in Spain. I am a clinical psychologist, but I am specialized in criminal organizations (especially in Mexican drug trafficking, victimology and other serious crimes perpetrated by organized crime), delinquency in Latin America, differences between criminal organizations (Maras, mafia, favelas, etc), perception of citizen safety, criminal policies and prevention of organized crime. I also worked with different government institutions in Latin America. In that period I got interested in psychopathy due to the close correlation with criminality and a lack of knowledge about psychopathy in these countries..
